Legal Requirement
Idaho state law requires minimum Bodily Injury Liability limits of $25,000 per injured person up to a total of $50,000 per accident, and Property Damage Liability coverage with a minimum limit of $15,000. This basic coverage is often referred to as 25/50/15 coverage:
• $25,000 for injury or death to one person
• $50,000 for injury or death to two or more people
• $15,000 for the damage of another party’s property
Penalties
Being caught for the first time will require you to have evidence or proof of insurance for a year. If you are caught twice then you will be required to have a proof of insurance for 3 years. Then if you still haven’t learned your lesson, it may be a bad record for you and it will affect your future purchase of car insurance and you will likely be charged of higher rate.
